What a change! A wallpaper liner was installed over the paneling (running horizontally and patched on the seam). Then, in the bedroom, the walls were papered and in the stairwell, they were painted. The client made a good job of opening up the stairwell on the lower level. The effect of walking down into a cave has totally disappeared.
This waiting room shouted the 60s and although it was re-done over 10 years ago, using classic pieces it will always look current. Notice how we opened up the reception window area. The door area has been de-cluttered by installing attractive coat hooks, a magazine rack and on the left we made a computer play area for kids & adults!
We were asked to make this hospital waiting area more like a sitting room with private areas where families could relax. First we added a bit of drapery and valance to soften the verticals, then we added a planter as a room divider. The chair in the centre of the room is a swivel chair and can be used to visit with the group on either side of the room. A TV was placed in the right bottom corner which made it visible to all. Pictures, updated lamps and accessories were the final touches.
